Bali is one of the top holiday spots in the world due to its pristine beaches, beautiful cultures and affordable private pool villas. There is so many things to do in Bali! So we had a difficult time deciding which part of Bali to go to. We finally decided to go to Ubud.Yay!
Ubud is filled with beautiful temples, waterfalls and rice terraces. Instagrammers are definitely in for a treat in Ubud. We decided to hop on the trend wagon and visited some insta-worthy spots.
1. Tegalalang Rice Terraces
There are plenty of rice terraces in Ubud with Tegalalang rice terraces being the most famous due to its prime location. It is best to visit Tegalalang before 7am to beat the crowds and have the best lighting for your Instagram shots.
We kinda overslept and arrived at around 9am. The crowd was slowly coming in but still manageable. The lighting was a little bit harsh. But with such beautiful backdrop, the photos turn out pretty nice, I think.
2. Green Kubu Cafe
We chanced upon this hidden gem and it was one of our greatest finds in Bali. This café is slightly off the usual tourist map hence not overrun by tourists. The food is great and affordable while the scenery is unbeatable. It even has it's own hidden rice field swing which was not only more fun but also costs a fraction of those big rice terrace's swing.
3. Tukad Cepung Waterfall
A half an hour ride from town and a short trek, we arrived at Tukad Cepung Waterfall. The waterfall in located behind a small canyon and the water falls into a small waterhole. The sunlight reflects off the waterfall into the cave/canyon, creating a very magical feeling.
4. Pura Lempuyang Luhur - Gates of Heaven
Huge temple gates and the impressive Mt Agung in the backdrop, this has to be the most instagrammable spot in Bali. This temple has become very popular due to Instagram. So definitely try to reach as early as possible to beat the crowd.
The best place to take the photo is actually at the foot of the temple's stairs so that Mt Agung will look as tall as the gates.
Some other spots we visited in Ubud which you shouldn't missed too.
5. Tirta Empul Temple - Holy Water Temple
Not as insta-worthy as the gates of heaven but it is pretty interesting to experience the tradition of bathing in the holy water.
6. Sacred Monkey Forest
I will never give up the chance to interact with wild animals so I was so excited to visit the sacred monkey forest where monkeys roam freely in the sanctuary. If you are lucky, you may be able to score a welfie with the monkeys. Not really recommended but surely fun to have them hop onto you.
After spending some time in Ubud and Nusa Penida, we are so in love with Bali. There are so many places we have yet to explore and we will definitely be back again.
